Adobe Photoshop is a popular photo editing software and uses files ending in .xmp. Technically, you're importing your presets with Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) for Photoshop.
Here's how to install and use your H&V Presets in Photoshop.
Step 1: Download & Unzip Your Preset Files
Because these are large files, they're "zipped" to minimize the file size and allow you to download them as efficiently as possible.
"Unzipping" the zip file unlocks all of the individual presets.
To edit on your PC Computer, download the files labelled "Desktop Presets (Lr Template)." Simply right-click on the zipped folder and choose "Extract All" from the options menu.
To edit on your Mac Computer, download the files labelled "Desktop Preset (Lr Template)." Simply double-click the file, and Mac's unzipping utility does the rest.
Step 2: Move or Copy Your Preset Folder Into the "Settings" Folder
- MAC Computer -> Locate your User Library.
- Open "Finder".
- Select "Go to" in the top navigation and hold down the Option key while clicking "Library".
- Navigate to the "Settings" folder >> User / Library / Application Support / Adobe / Camera Raw / Settings.
- Copy the Preset folder (Desktop Preset XMP files) inside.
- PC Windows
- Navigate to the "Settings" folder >> C: \ Documents and Settings \ User \ Application Data \ Adobe \ CameraRaw \ Settings
- For PC Windows 7 & 10 >> C: \ Users \ UserName \ App Data \ Roaming \ Adobe \ CameraRaw \ Settings
- Copy the Preset folder (Desktop Preset XMP files) inside.
- Navigate to the "Settings" folder >> C: \ Documents and Settings \ User \ Application Data \ Adobe \ CameraRaw \ Settings
Step 3: Open Photoshop and Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) & Install Presets
- Note: If you use a RAW image, ACR will open automatically.
- If you use a JPG or TIF file please select "Filter" >> "Camera Raw Filter...".
- Select the "Presets" tab in ACR at the upper right corner (Slider icon). Your recently installed Presets will show up in folders underneath.
- Select the Preset you want to edit your image with.
- Right click on a Preset Folder to manage your Presets.
- Make sure that "Show Partially Compatible Presets" is checked.
- If you right click on a single Presets it will give you some more options like renaming the Preset or updating it with current settings etc..
- Select "Manage Presets" and a small window will open. This gives you the opportunity to show or hide Preset folders you want to work with.
TIP: If you want to import a single Preset or Profile right click on a Preset Folder or single Preset >> Select "Import Profiles & Presets" (last tab)
- Select the .xmp file on your desktop or hard drive.
- If not managed the Preset will be stored in the "User Presets" folder.
- You can create a new Preset by selecting the "New Preset" icon lower right corner.
Step 4: Transform Your Photos in 1-Click
Now for the FUN part... playing with your presets on your photos!
NOTE: Our presets will not change your exposure or white balance since those settings can vary with each image. We encourage you to make those adjustments as necessary before or after choosing your preset.
Enjoy, and thank you again for your purchase. We can't wait to see your creativity come to life!
